Co., No. 25-2205, 2026 WL 1502198, at *6 (7th Cir. May 29, 2026), email service does not comply with the Hague Convention, so service by email is only proper if the Hague Convention does not apply because Defendants' physical addresses remain unknown even after reasonably diligent efforts to ascertain them. The Court cannot discern from Plaintiff's motion for electronic service of process and supporting declaration whether such efforts were taken here. In particular, Plaintiff's supporting declaration outlines a general methodology its investigator may take in an infringement case, but does not state which specific steps were taken or what the specific findings of that investigation were in this case. Additionally, the general methodology outlined appears deficient. See, e.g., ECF 12-2 at 10 ("If an address resolves to a location that does not reasonably appear to be the seller's residence or place of business, Nomadic's investigation team does not consider the address sufficiently reliable for service."). Where search results provide an identifiable physical location (for example: returning a match or partial match for the address that an investigator could physically go to, even if the address does not appear to be affiliated with the defendant), the Court finds that reasonably diligent efforts to find a defendant's address require Plaintiff to take additional investigative steps, such as sending an investigator to that location.
