Once the case was assigned to this Court, however, Plaintiff filed an amended complaint, which names just one defendant, and thus avoids any joinder issues. See [12]. But before Plaintiff may proceed, it must file a supplemental report confirming whether it has previously named any of the 23 defendants identified in this case in a prior case asserting infringement of the same intellectual property. See Julie Stiebritz v. The Partnerships and Unincorporated Associations Identified on Schedule A, No. 1:25-cv-03459, at 19 (N.D. Ill. Apr. 9, 2025) (dismissing the case because plaintiff previously named defendants in a prior case and dismissed them to avoid an unfavorable joinder ruling, which constitutes forum shopping). Plaintiff shall file the report by 6/22/26. Additionally, based upon Plaintiff's withdrawal, [13], the Court denies as moot Plaintiff's motion to seal [4]. Finally, if the case will proceed, Plaintiff must be prepared to either serve the defendant in accordance with the Hague Convention or demonstrate that, after "reasonably diligent efforts to ascertain and verify the defendant's mailing address," the address remains unknown. See Kangol LLC v. Hangzhou Chuanyue Silk Imp. & Exp. Co., No. 25-2205, 2026 WL 1502198, at *4 (7th Cir. May 29, 2026) (citing NBA Props., Inc. v. P'ships and Unincorporated Ass'ns Identified in Schedule "A", 549 F. Supp. 3d 790, 796 (N.D. Ill. 2021)). |
